Neisna Blom Green Petal & Hortus Hickory

Schwangere Mama mit Kind im Tragetuch

Neisna “Hortus Hickory“ (Tester)

Brand: Neisna (CH)
Material: 100% cotton
density:  300 gr/m2
released: May 23, 2016

About the company: Neisna is a pretty young brand from Switzerland, founded by two sisters. The wraps are designed by them in Switzerland and woven in Austria. Until now, two designs have been released: Hortus and Hawe.

The philosophy of Neisna’s founders is to produce wraps with organic fabrics. Sustainability and fairness is something they already live and that’s what also Neisna stands for. All wraps are released in a limited quantity. Update: A weaving mill in Switzerland has found.

The future wraps shall be weaven in Switzerland which proofs that the two sisters also want to support the local manufacturers – best practice! I’m looking forward to see the first results. 🙂

My first impression: I received the tester freshly washed after it has already worn by other testing persons. That’s why I first thought the wrap is rather stiff and I couldn’t believe it’s only cotton. But it soon felt softer. I loved the design, the weaving and also that the wrap was solid and not too thin.

Neisna Hortus Hickory Conclusion: My daughter loved the butterflies so it was easy to convince her to be wrapped. 😉 I tried both Ruck and DH and can’t tell that the one or the other carry was better though this wrap was a bit too short for my DH now that I’m growing a little bump. 😉 Anyway, I felt an amazing support of an easy to tie wrap even in a one-layer-carry.

Perfect for my heavy child who enjoyed the ride. 😉 The wrap, in my eyes, hasn’t a lot of bounce or stretch and that’s what I really appreciate with a wrap that must hold a toddler/preschooler. No need to retighten the wrap while in use. I know now why Neisna got quite famous in a short time. What you have in hand here, really is a wrap of high quality and positive environmental background.

Tested in july 2016 with 19 kg and 4 years old wrappee and 12-weeks-preggo-bump 😉

Neisna Blom Green Petal

Neisna Tragetuch

Brand: Neisna (CH)
Material: 100% cotton
density:  270 gr/m2
released: february 2017

My first impression: Though I am at the end of a testing queue, Green Petal didn’t arrive softly. It’s not a wrap you want to cuddle with but I guess that, nevertheless, you want to wear your child with it from valley to mountain and back 😉 The design is very beautiful and the colour is something you’ll love when you like turquoise or greenish wraps. It looks really natural. The density is just right for me, I wouldn’t want more of it.

How does it wear: Once tightened, the wrap stays in place forever. There’s no slippery and no bounce, at least not with my featherweight baby 😉 Because it’s a mid thick wrap, I’d recommend to spread the fabric on your shoulders for an even weight distribution. The knot on the back is rather big – if you don’t like that, try to do one in front.

I’d call this wrap rustic and a great fit for muddy woods and out in the meadows – not only because of its colours but also because it’s sturdy and won’t mind if it’s getting dirty and in need of a wash. But of course, the lovely floral design also makes a very good appearance in the city, at the beach or at a summer party 😉

Conclusion: A working horse, an outdoor queen, a wrap for all ages but especially nice with heavier children, I guess.

Tested in march 2017 with my 2 months old girl.
