My first impression: The Huggyberry Onbu arrived in known quality with the beautiful Dandelion design. The back panel is threepart with the dark side in the mid and the bright side on the sides. The shoulder straps are well padded and two small rings are sewn on at each side. The long straps are rather narrow, maybe a bit broader than the ones of the Limas Baby carrier but not as wide as WrapCon shoulder straps. The hip belt is padded as well, but not as thick as the straps. I’m very curious ’cause I never tried a Ring Onbu before.

Make a reinforced seat if you like

How to use it: It’s fun using the Huggyberry Onbu. I like to use it with the straps already loosely fixed at the rings so it’s easier to bring your child on the back (with feet already hanging through the loops). I made the experience that it’s easier to pull the straps if you’re not fixing them but just letting them glide through both rings. However you’ll feel safer by fixing them! Once pulled through the rings so that your child is on idal height, you can choose to guide them under the legs and back to front or make a reinforced  seat. This might be a great solution for toddlers. You can finish with a knot in front or, for the real onbu feeling, put the ends through the rings again (tibetan style would be a nice choice) and tie in front of your chest if necessary (if you don’t fix them at the rings).

How does it fit and wear: The Huggyberry Onbu fits quite well, the only thing that’s disturbing me is that the rings might press against your upper arms or armpits, especially when wearing your child high. As seen on the left picture, where my child isn’t as high yet. I’d prefer that the rings are sewed on a bit higher. It could be a good solution to build an option to shorten the straps on the top like seen with most other carriers. While the straps themselves could be wider, too (WrapCon style), to get the best out of them for a tibetan finish or reinforced seat, the Huggyberry Ring Onbu is really nice to wear and adjust.

Conclusion: Great options to play with this carrier and wear it the way you like it. Easy handling and adjusting and good chances to get your child high enough. The back panel is pretty wide, so, depending on your child’s size, I wouldn’t use it before 10 months or older.
