Limas Baby carrier- test & review of the half-buckle

Limas Baby Half-Buckle Carrier “Unicorns” pink/beige

Brand: Limasbaby (DE)
Material: 100% (organic) cotton
weight/age recommendation: 3-15 kg

About the company: Limas Baby is a pretty young family business in Germany with a range of one versatile Half-Buckle carrier, available in different designs. Designed in Germany, made in EU.

My first impression: The Limas Baby carrier looks nice and easy to handle. Lovely design, soft in the hand, with a buckled and padded waist belt. The crotch is steplessly adjustable (20-42cm)  with velcro on the waist belt. Head support as well – by drawstrings. The shoulder straps start wide and slightly folded and get a bit thinner in the end. They’re not padded. Back panel is one size but with the possibility to fold in the waist belt once and tie it with two straps at the bottom of each side of the panel – quick and easy. The fabric consists of a two layered woven wrap in broken twill weave. Carrier is reversible, showing two different colours on the back panel. Limas Babytrage

Even weight distribution Limas Babytrage

How does it wear: I wasn’t sure about the comfort ’cause I’m used to padded straps with any carrier I had before. But it felt great on the shoulders. The wide straps distribute the weight evenly. Of course my baby is tiny but still, I felt that the weight was rather on my hips (which didn’t disturb me). It would be interesting to try it with a heavier child… My 4 week old still was asleep when I put her into the carrier, that’s why she’s barely visible. When she was awake (no pics made, that was on another day), her head was higher and she could look around, just to say… 😉 Still: very tiny babies might be too small to be worn from birth on but it should fit soon. Limas Babytrage

Conclusion: Really nice front, back and hip carrier with an affordable price. Perfectly adjustable for fit from birth till the end of the babywearing time. This is the first half-buckle I could test for a longer period and I really like it, as it’s combining two advantages: padded waist belt for comfort, shoulder straps for a great fit and a quick use, especially when the carrier is worn by two persons. Besides, the carrier is light and airy and won’t use much place if taken with you in a bag or back pack, e.g. during hikings with children who already walk but still need a rest some time.
This carrier will from now on be available to try during my babywearing consultations.

Tested in february 2017 with my 4 weeks old daughter. Many thanks to Limas Baby for the testing possibility!
