Madalo handwovens test & review

Madalo Hada rosa (Tester)

Weaver: Madalo (DE), woven in Mexico
Material: Cotton
Density: ca. 330 gsm

About the company: Madalo was established in Germany while the wraps are woven in Mexico. Every design is woven in a small amount and sold via website or draw in the Facebook chatter group. The designs are rather simple, containing a few colours and rather big stripes (no pinstripes).

What’s awesome about the brand, is that they’re very close to its customers. Mostly communicating through Facebook site and group, this is, where it all happens: Not only draws but also Giveaways, Games and Polls about what colourways, designs etc. the fans wish for the next warp.

Of course they also provide help and answers to all the questions people have. I don’t know many Companys that are so close to their customers! Not to mention that they’re really affordable!

Madalo – thick and heavy handwoven wraps

My first impression: This wrap is thick and heavy like a plaid. Not very soft, yet, but just okay. Of course I adore the colours, being a pink lover. 😉 I also like the twill weave as it’s one of my favourite, too.

How does it wear: I have no problems with bringing my toddler up and tight but as the wrap is pretty thick, it’s not too easy to tie an bring all the fabric neatly on my shoulders – real challenge there! Once done, it’s solid and comfortable. The weight is evenly spread and nothing will disturb you. Doing a knot with so much fabric is another challenge…

Madalo Hada rosa – perfect toddler wrap

Conclusion: I’d recommend this on for experienced babywearers only and preferably for older babies. Too much fabric for a newborn, too much to handle if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing. High comfort for women who don’t like thinner wraps. Great support for toddlers. I’d suggest to fold the wrap neatly on the shoulders to avoid a load of fabric there which my soon slide down.

This test was done in january 2016 with my 15 kg and 4 years old daughter. Thanks to Madalo!
