Mamalila Softshell babywearing jacket

About the label: Mamalila is a german brand designing baybwearing jackets, covers, coats and other items for years. There quality is outstanding and they’ve already been awarded for their products several times.
Tested product: Softshell jacket with head support for baby, 4-in-1; 1. layer: 94% Polyester, 6% Elasthan – membrane: 100% Polyurethan – 3. layer: 100% Polyester
Can be used for: pregnancy and beyond, front and back carry
Weather suitability: for colder/wet days in spring and autumn. Water- and windproof.
Sizing: I tried a size L (I usually wear sz 44 which is rather XL) and it still was rather big than small. Just try your base size or a size below. I could use the jacket during 8 months of pregnancy without insert so I guess a size M would have done, too.

How to use it: The Mamalila Softshell jacket is easy to use. There are two simple inserts for pregnancy and babywearing to zip in easily. Concerning the baby insert, neck protection, hood and also the width of the head opening are adjustable. The head support for small or sleeping babies can be used in front and in back. A drawstring in the hemlime of the jacket protects from draughts. I also loved the sleeves which have cozy wristbands for your hands.

Look and feel: The jacket is rather thin with a thin layer of fleece in the inside. It’s still warm if it’s not too cold outside and, if you don’t buy it too slim fitting, just wear another layer under the jacket to make it winter-proof. This jacket perfectly protects you (and your baby) during stormy, rainy weather. What I appreciate most about this jacket is that it’s not hanging around you like a bag and makes you look like a pear (I know jackets that do so 😉 It’s a simple jacket you don’t have to sell after pregnancy and babywearing ’cause it will still do it’s job and look great. Only thing remembering of babywearing times is the zipper on the back. Never mind that.

Conclusion: One of the most recommendable babywearing/pregnancy jackets on the market with a great price/performance ratio! I was really impressed and would have loved to buy another one, for winter, too. But you can’t have them all 😉 Great for an active outdoor life. Lovely design and beautiful colour range. Easy-to-use, you don’t even need a guidance here…
