The head support comes with elastic drawstrings, the Standard one with two straps on each side.

For extra comfort, the shoulder straps of the Aseema do have a thicker padding and are way longer. The part of the straps coming out of the back panel is wider with the Standard carrier.

The standard has slightly bigger leg paddings.

Both carriers do have a 2-way adjustment with their shoulder straps – great!

How to adjust it

The Standard panel isn’t adjustable at all. Whereas the Aseema seat can be adjusted easily and steplessy by sliding on the strap and fixing it on the velcro. The panel height has a limited possibility of being shortened. It also easily happens by sliding the fabric up or down around a strap with hidden buckle that fixes the fabric.

How does it fit and wear

Both carriers are really comfortable Full-Buckles. I love the thicker shoulder padding with the Aseema. When it comes to fit, the Aseema of course wins. It might not be perfect with tiny newborns but fits well with ages 2-3 months up while the Standard shouldn’t be used with tiny babies. It starts fitting well by the age of 8-9 months approximately or whenever your baby reaches around 7 kg.

The seat reaches the knees of your child until size 86 (age: 2 years) approximately, depending your physique. My hips are not the narrowest. If they were smaller, the seat would maybe still fit 100% with my girl. This said, I guess the Aseema will fit perfectly until 3-4 years and makes a perfect toddler or even preschooler carrier.

Conclusion: Soul Aseema vs Soul Standard

Depending on your needs I’d recommend the one or another carrier. The Aseema is perfect if you’re looking for a newborn to toddler carrier that is highly adjustable and if you’re a perfectionist babywearer. It’s also the best choice if you need a long waistband and high support as well as comfort on your hips and shoulders (mentioning also the lumbar support). Also choose Aseema if you want to carry for hours (as on hikes) or if you need a carrier to switch with siblings.

The standard carrier is a nice choice if you’re just happy getting a carrier and aren’t impressed by adjustments. It’s also nice if you’re a beginner and just don’t want to have too much things to adjust on your carrier. The standard is your choice if your baby is no newborn anymore. It’s a simple carrier for a fast everyday use.

Tested during spring/summer 2019 with my 12 kg and 86 cm toddler girl (2,5 years old).
