Jacq + Rose

Double Review of Tri Grey & Ribbons (prototype)

Brand: Jacq + Rose (GB)
Material: 100% cotton
Density: ca. 280/310 g/m2
Released: 2016

About the company: Jacq and Rose was founded this year (2016) using ethically sourced yarns that are woven in a british mill. At the moment testers are out and about travelling and a Pre-Order is in production. They love geometric patterns, as you can see and if you want to see more, check their facebook or instagram page.

My first impression: Tri Grey is a rather understated design and colour (I think it’s more of a blueish grey, by the way) but still nice and modern with the graphic triangles. Both wraps came in as testers and were already kinda smooth but Tri was very, very soft – great! The weave here is flat whereas Ribbons has a structure and feels thicker and heavier. Though both wraps are made of 100% cotton, they feel very different. The design of Ribbons is more special, a bit like a plaid or a bamboo chair. It’s not my kind of pattern, I guess.

How does it wear: Due to my progressing pregnancy I only tested with my doll but I can completely imagine both wraps with a heavier child, too. Tri Grey though, would be my choice for newborns/babies, Ribbons for bigger/heavier children. Ribbons for sure got more grip due to its structure and great support, Tri got more glide and is easier to wrap, even for beginners. The weight is just okay, the wrap isn’t too thick and not as thin as to hurt your shoulders that’s why I think you could use it for a pretty long period from newborn to toddler! As you can see, it’s a Double Hammock ace! 😀
You’ll also get some nice results with Ribbons, as you can see me using it in a hip carry. It’s just a lot of fabric gathering, especially when doing a multi-layer carry. It needs a bit more of work to tighten strand by strand but it’s okay.

Conclusion: Tri grey is a nice allrounder, suitable for all, great also if you’re an unexperienced wrapper.
Ribbons is a rather thick and heavyweight wrap with grip and structure – perfect for toddlers and/or experienced wrappers
If I had to choose one of the wraps at the moment, it’d be Tri, in another colour 😉
Anyway, I’m curious to see what Jacq and Rose will bring in the future. The Quality is great from what I’ve seen 😉 Definitely nice wraps…
