Calin Bleu Brand: Calin Bleu (UK)

width: 60 cm
colour: pink
released: 2017

About the brand: Calin bleu has been founded, as the name reveals, by a french mum (living in the UK). Calin means caress, bleu means blue. Established 2005, the brand got pretty popular for its wraps. 2016, Karen Hunt took over the enterprise from Anne Dhir and runs it from Devon UK now. Talking about upcoming news, there will be new product lines and fabric options… stay tuned!

This new pink is our new colour for summer 2017, inspired by the beautiful wild flowers found in the Devonshire countryside.

My first impression: I am entirely surprised how thin the wrap is! It’s so thin you don’t even guess that the fabric was made to wear a baby (beyond the fact that you can use literally everything to wear your baby if you’ve got nothing on hand but a towel, e.g. (see Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy ;).
Folded, it looks more than a kitchen towel, such a tiny package…
The colour is awesome – pink, as pink can! The fabric feels “dry” and airy. Soft? Not really… similar to Linen and… paper!

Calin Bleu – perfect for your beach holiday or your hand bag

How does it wear: This wrap has a very low amount of stretch which makes it easy to tighten. Really tight! Due to its narrow width and thin material, wrapping is quick and easy… I can’t imagine someone cannot experience a neat wrap job with this one. Just don’t watch me… it’s always difficult to get the fabric smooth and flat on her back ’cause she’s a jumper in the wrap 😉
The support is nice for sure – everything stays in place. I still wouldn’t recommend to do a longer walk with this wrap. I’ve been walking in it for about 30-45 minutes, that was okay. I just had to spread the wrap a bit on my shoulders because the thin fabric obviously tends to cut a little bit and you might not like that. Also, you may not like all the fabric (and weight) gathered on a small point on your body… Finished? The knot is really tiny – good one!

Conclusion: The perfect wrap for your beach holiday! Fits into every bag, even it’s just a very small one. A real leightweight that’s very airy during hotter days. Wear it above your bikini – with or without baby (yeah, why not wrapping it around as a suit when you’re getting your lunch at the beach bar?) I’d definitely try but we won’t see the sea this summer (hides crying). Okay, this one also goes well for your local pool party. It’s just not the wrap of choice when you’re in for a 3-hours-hike. I’d totally recommend it for smaller babies. It’s not a toddler wrap I guess, but why not keeping it in your hand bag as a back-up in the city when your toddler needs a short up? Could be helpful in a multi-layer-carry. But coming back to the beach: the wrap isn’t expensive at all (see me glimpsing at the other beautiful colours in the shop – oops, like jellys! Who can resist? You’ll want them all – one colour a day 😉 so: no need to care about sand, water or ice cream…
