Daiesu Kelarai Capri

About the company: Daiesu is a small, family-run business of three which startet in 2014 in Kuala Lumpur (MY). Like many stories, also this one began with a family, starting wearing her baby, called “Daie”.

The experiences of the family led to the wish, to produce their own wraps and make babywearing more popular in their home country, Malaysia.

The wraps are woven and finished in India, where the textile technology and production is more evolved, but designed in Malaysia. The family visits the weaving mill regularly to take care of the quality they wish for their wraps.

Daiesu Kelarai Capri – soft out of the box

Daiesu Kelarai Capri My first impression: Oh, that colours, black and turquoise in a most intense shine. Beautiful. They rule every pic I made. 😉 Though turquoise wouldn’t have been my first choice, I can’t drag my eyes of the pattern and, trying it on later, it seems to suit me. 😉

I should really wear other than girly colours, too. 😀 The wrap is already soft out of the box and invites to be worn immediately. It’s cushy but also heavy. 🙂
What Daiesu says about this wrap:

“Kelarai” is traditional mat webbing art from Malaysia. Inspired by its “Mata Berkait” theme, Daiesu is proud to translate our local handicraft gem into a babywearing masterpiece!

How does it wear: The low amount of stretch and the density make it a very supportive wrap. While it’s rather difficult to get a nice job done with my doll, I imagine this wrap will be great with toddlers. The same day I wrote this, my daughter came to me in the evening and wanted to be wrapped. This doesn’t happen very often anymore, I was kinda surprised.

Daiesu – cushy and comfy

I said we can’t take good pictures now as we’re inside the house and daddy isn’t here but she still wanted to get up and take some pictures. You’ll find them below. 🙂 I just tied a sloppy Ruck, the wrap was almost too short to do a tibetan finish and because I knew we won’t stay like this for long as my body won’t carry that weight for too long anymore, too, I left it like this.

The wrap was cushy and comfy, no big deal, wearing a toddler with it. There’s quite an amount of fabric on the shoulders which means that it feels like a cloud but, because the fabric tends to slide, I’d really recommend a carry that prevents the fabric from gliding down the shoulders, especially if you’re tiny and your shoulders are narrow. 😉

Conclusion: Nice and cushy midweight wrap with great design and colour. Low amount of stretch makes it easy to tighten and supportive. I’d recommend it for toddlers. You won’t feel the weight! 😉

Tested in december 2016 with my babywearing doll and soon to be 5 years old wrappee and 36-weeks-preggo-bump.
