Material: 100% cotton
Dimensions: panel width: 42cm; panel height: 34-40cm
Weight/Age recommendations: from birth on until toddlerhood
About the brand: Girasol was one of my first brands concerning baby wraps. The wraps are handwoven in Guatemala and imported to Germany. I loved following Ola’s Blog to find out about all the exclusives and Pre Orders. Sometimes there were contests but I never won one with my design inspirations. Girasol wraps are woven in different weaves from plain to diamond weave and most designs come with different wefts, too. Sometimes it was hard to choose one and some were highly sought after. 😉
I’ve had various Girasol wraps during my long wrapping “career” and I still got a Romantique which is my consultation wrap. It hast a good lenght to show the basic carries and with the bold colour stripes it’s easier to show the parents how to tighten the wrap properly.
My first impression of the WrapMySol
The Girasol MySol is in my consultancy stash for many years now and it always has been one of the top 2-3 carriers parents chose when they tried on different carriers with their babies. Why? Because it’s close to a baby wrap, it’s snug and cozy, it’s easy to handle and use. Over the years, people waited for Girasol to expand their range so when it was announced that there’s a WrapCon coming out, I was literally hunting for it and getting people on the nerves because obviously it takes some time from announcement until release. A lot of time.
I’ve been so curious and impatient I must have been a real pain in the ass. I just wanted to be like the first one to review this carrier but in the end I guess I’m like #100… anyway, I got one in july and it was really a familiar feeling. Everthing on it is MySol expect for the shoulder straps of course. 😉 And the panel is slightly wider/longer.
How to adjust and use the WrapMySol
It’s as easy as the MySol! For smaller babies, use the top tunnel for the hip belt and adjust the back panel, fix it with the velcro. Put on the shoulder straps and cross them, guide them back and make a knot. Adjust the neck part for your baby. Flip the straps if you like. With the WrapCon straps you’ve got the possibility to make a reinforced seat which might be a good solution to do when toddlerwearing.
How does it fit and wear: I’ve tried it the WrapMySol for longer walks and it was pretty comfy. The weight distributes well over the shoulders which is an advantage compared to the MySol, especially with heavier babies/toddlers. But I’d wish for a slightly more padded or broader hipbelt because there’s obviously still enough weight on my hips and the more weight, the comfier a broad padding is. But compared to the MySol, the WrapMySol really seems to “last” longer because with both girls I didn’t use the MySol anymore after 12-18 months.
More versatile than the MySol
Conclusion: A highly appreciated baby carrier finally gets a sibling. The WrapMySol makes a great addition to the Girasol family and will please parents with shoulder problems. Also, the WrapMySol enables a reinforced seat and therefor it’s more toddler-friendly. Did I mention the comfy options to tie nice finishes with the straps while back-carrying? 😉
Tested with my 18-19 months old baby during summer 2018. Thanks to the sponsor for the opportunity!
I like the impressions you share of the wrapcon and I just finished my own review of this carrier. But I am more critical about the belt. What experiences have you made?
Huhu! Ich antworte mal auf deutsch! 😀 Gerade rein gelesen…
