About the Brand: It’s a passionate woman and loving mom from Vienna (Austria) who stands behind Parelou. She started sewing as a balance besides two small children, producing items that made her life easier. One of her ideas was Parelou and it turned out as a really wonderful project:

Parelou fulfills all standards

Hand-made, colorful, of high quality und incredibly functional – the first words, that come to my mind about the wearing jackets. Love at first sight. Parelou sets on sustainably produced, timeless products to preserve natural ressources. The jackets are manufactured in a small EU-atelier under fair conditions to comply with high ecological and social standards.

Parelou Detail detachable lining Tested product & features: I’ve tested the all year babywearing coat with 100% softshell outside and a removable quilted winter lining (see picture on the left) which makes the coat usable during the whole year.

The coat comes with removable hood for the mama, two inserts (one for pregnancy and tiny babies, one for bigger babies) and drawstrings at the inside to adjust the coat to your figure as well as on the insert to adjust to your baby. I used the coat with the bigger insert.

Parelou babywearing coat – Fit & practicability:

The coat fits perfectly and is easy to use with the zip-in-inserts. Use the drawstrings to make further adjustments. If you don’t need the lining, just detach it. Same for the hood… But bring along something for your neck to keep you warm and maybe also for your baby (a mother-child-scarf might be a great idea).

Coming with two different inserts, you’ve got the possibility to use the coath during pregnancy, babywearing in front and/or back – yes, tandemwearing is possible with the tiny baby in front and toddler on the back.

Find a video below my review to see two different options of putting the coat on and one to put it off…

Parelou and weather suitability

The coat will go with any (cold or wet) weather. Worn with the winter lining, you can last in ice & snow, worn without, you can step into rainy days in spring or autumn. Your head is protected with a hood. Baby’s neck and part of the head can be protected a with the big insert (see pictures) but don’t forget to protect the head, too. I’ve already written about it above.

Conclusion: The Parelou was love at first sight. I love grey and pink, especially when combined, which means the coat already earned 10 points for its colour. 😉 The “melange” effect is nice, too and don’t forget the design. Second, the coat is pretty self-explanatory and heavy but warm! I haven’t been lucky with the winter coats I tried before.

They either were not warm enough to dress normally underneath them or they looked like a garbage bag around me. The only one I liked so far is the Wallaby. The Parelou has a more female design and colour and – as a big advantage – the winter lining can be removed which makes the jacket wearable also during transitional seasons like spring and autumn days.

Parelou is a coat for everyone in every size

The fact that the Parelou is available in any size you might want, makes it a coat for literally everyone and that’s what I almost like the most with it! No matter which size you are, you can order your own Parelou and it will fit. I just handed out my measures and got a perfect fitting coat.

If you’re living in a zone with a long or cold winter, you should invest in a Parelou. It’s for sure not the cheapest coat on the market but worth its money. Not to forget that you could use it for two children at one time with both inserts in the coat. 🙂

Tested in december 2017 with my 10 months old baby – thanks for the opportunity!
