Wildling Shoes – feels like barefoot

Wildling Shoes – what is it? Those shoes kept popping into my eye whenever I scrolled through my social media feed last year. First I thought it’s just some new trend, not worth following. But I got curious because it didn’t stop… Read my review.

→Den deutschen Beitrag findet Ihr hier auf meinem Blog! 🙂

I got in touch with Wildling Shoes and got a pair to review for my son as well as for my daughter. it took some time until they finally arrived. You need to order Wildling Shoes online. For sizing, there’s a sheet you can print out from their website to stand on and find out about the correct size. The pair for my son was the first to come: Squirrel – in a pure red consisting of organic cotton moleskin and a milled wool lining – perfect for colder days. My daughter got Marmot, a vegan pair with denim and plush. A very lovely shoe, too. And I especially love the plush giving them a cushy look.

The kids actually liked the shoes and didn’t complain which means they find them comfy. Otherwise they usually tell me that they’re not fitting or aching. 😉
The only bummer was that they couldn’t put them on alone, due to the elastic laces being in the top hole. You have to change this but I guess it’s already different with the newest models they’re selling.

Walking barefoot is the best thing to do

Why using barefoot shoes like Wildlings? It’s easy: walking barefoot is the healthiest thing to do for your feet. My kids are barefoot as often as possible. Inside the whole year, outside, playing, as long as they don’t freeze 😉 But of course they wear shoes when they go to school or somewhere else, when it’s cold and when we’re hiking or walking in the forest. The philosophy behind Wildling shoes is: as much shoe as necessary, as few as possible. The sole is thin, the shoe is very soft, it only protects a little bit from stones, broken glass etc. you might step on while walking.

Now, the shop got some new additions, not only for shoes but also for laces, freesole glue to repair the shoes or improve their performance during wet days, inserted soles etc. I was really unsure about ordering a pair for myself because I’ve got a high instep and a wide foot and rarely find matching shoes… Now I’m really curious and it might be a good idea to try Wildling shoes once, too 🙂 Especially because I cannot really tell my kids’ experiences, they just walked in the Wildlings and felt comfy about them 😀

Update to my Wildling Shoes review: Cubs are here!

Almost exactly when my girl started to walk which was a few weeks ago (she’s 18 months old now), Wildling Shoes started the Release of the Cubs. I’ve been super excited and was online to shop the first pair as soon as they were in the shop! My girl wore them for a while now (I’ve ordered two sizes, luckily, when she’s barefoot, size 20 fits perfectly but I guess we’ll soon change to 21, especially with socks) and they’re still in a very good condition! What I love about them is their ultimate softness and the very thin sole. I can put them on her feet with ease and it looks so natural when she walks – like barefoot! 🙂 And of course they also look perfect when you’re carrying your child. 😉

How about you? Are you experienced with barefoot shoes? Which one did you try and how did you like them?
