Buzzidil

About the company: Have a look at the Buzzibu-Review to read more…

My first impression: The Buzzidil is a must-have for most of the babywearing consultants in Austria (of course!), Germand and Switzerland. It’s a shame it took me so long to get myself one (thank you very much, Buzzidil!) During my second consultancy with my second baby, I tried different carriers and didn’t find the Buzzi comfy enough but I tried one again some years ago and I knew I had to think about it again, so, here it was, the Buzzidil with its totally recognizable design (the trapezoid head rest, the crocodile logo and the cords and toggle fasteners) and the beautiful wrap fabric I got with those pink-lilac flowers.

Buzzidil Versatile – improvements

I’ve been testing the new Buzzidil Versatile which got some improvements for a better fit for different babywearers. The hip belt can be tightened more, the shoulder straps can be shortened more and two loops inside the hipbelt serve to change the carrier into some kind of hip-cushion for bigger babies you’ll hold and carry on your hips – nice idea!

How to adjust it: The Buzzidil Versatile really has a lot of possibilites to adjust it perfectly to you and your baby. The panel is adjustable with cords in the center at the bottom and on each side.  The shoulder straps can be adjusted in both directions and fixed at the sides of the back panel or (for newborns until around 6-9 months) at a strap that’s running through the hip-belt, quite similar to the MilaMai. The tunnel is longer though and the strap is fixed by velcro. The buckles of the shoulder straps are three-point for more security and difficult to open (even for adults ;). The top part of the back panel can be narrowed via cords, the head rest as well – on each sides and on the upper part that’s coming from the back panel. The head rest can be put up and fixed on the shoulder straps with toggle fasteners to build a neck support but there are also two velcro strings on the shoulder straps where you can fix the headrest with it’s loops at the edges before you put your child on the back. That way you can easily pull up the head rest when needed – nice idea!

How does it fit and wear: The cone-shaped hip-belt is a perfect mix between soft and supportive and transfers the weight evenly on your hips when carrying your (bigger) child with shoulder straps fixed on back panel. This and the many options to adjust the carrier makes it great for everybody, I guess. I found it very comfortable during a longer hike we did. Also my girl liked it and as you can see, fell asleep. There’s an extra padded, sewed-on wing on each side of the panel where babies’ legs come out to prevent from cuttings.

Conclusion: A really comfortable and thought through, improved version of the famous Buzzidil! There’s only one point: I would switch to the next size way earlier than 86/92 and 18 months (recommendation of the manufacturer). As you can see she already got arms out and back panel was already in full width with her wearing size 74.

Tested with my 15-16 months old baby in april 2018. Thanks to the sponsor for the opportunity!
