Hoppediz Bondolino – with comfy velcro-hipbelt

Hoppediz Bondolino

Baby in Hoppediz Bondolino Bondolino “Timbuktu”, Light Quality

Brand: Hoppediz (DE)
material: 100% cotton
weight/age recommendation: newborn to 20kg

About the company: Hoppediz has been founded after 1999. You’ll find the history in german language on their site. Their aim was to produce wraps in good quality for a fair price and apart from baby wraps, they offer a various range of products for babywearing and beyond.

My first impression: The Hoppediz Bondolino looks nice. I love the pattern on the panel, the shoulder straps are padded and feel soft. This is the first carrier I’ve ever seen using a broad velcro to close the hip belt. Nice idea! And there’s a plastic cross you can additionally use to guide the shoulder straps through. There’s a small pocket on one of the shoulder straps. Just big enough to put in a pacifier or your keys.

Hoppediz Bondolino – easy to put on

How to adjust it: The back panel isn’t adjustable in height but the head rest can be fixed with straps to build a neck support which is pretty nice. The crotch can be adjusted with either a ribbon (tie it smaller) or an additional part to button for toddlers. With that it’s not perfectly stelplessly adjustable but I think it’s still good enough.

Tragemama mit Hoppediz von Bondolino How does it wear: A comfy carrier, easy to put on. I kinda like the idea with the velcro. I think it’s faster than a hipbelt with buckles you need to adjust when sharing with someone else and more comfy than a hipbelt to tie. Plus: it stays in place!

The only thing I wonder is, if it still holds after years of intense use… For me, I didn’t use the plastic cross. I prefer to do the X myself with the straps but it might be a nice feature for people with narrow shoulders because it prevents slippery.

Nice for back carries: The head rest has long straps like you might know from babywearing jackets. This makes it easy for the wearer to put on the head rest when the child fell asleep.

Hoppediz Bondolino – great weight distribution

Conclusion: Really easy, simple and fast on carrier that doesn’t need a dozens of movements to adjust. Both, shoulder straps and hipbelt, are broad and make a nice spread of the weight. I love the velcro for the hipbelt because it makes the hipbelt comfy and stay-in-place better than with a buckle (just my opinion).

And you don’t need to adjust it anytime you use it! This carrier feels nice with my baby girl but due to the one-sized back panel, I guess it won’t be the carrier of choice for doing long hikes with a toddler.

Tested in march 2017 with my 2 months old daughter. Many thanks to the sponsor for the testing possibility!

  1. Hi, thank you for your nice review. Do you think the bondolino can be used from birth? Or is it better to wait 2 or 3 months? Thank you!

    1. Hi dear, thank you ? ?? Personally I prefer wraps or maybe a Ring Sling during the first 3 months, as they’re better adjustable to the baby. I tried the Bondolino with my 2 months old and it was okay so if your baby isn’t too tiny I guess it is okay to use it ☺️??
