About the company: Bayiravi was introduced to babywearing when her son was a few months old. She enjoyed all the advantages of keeping her baby close to her and liked it as it allowed her to continue an active lifestyle. This inspired her to “spread the awareness of babywearing by creating an affordable and comfortable carrier for parents in India.” Kol Kol is the first word of her son. With her brand she also produces Ring Slings, a Meh Dai and an Onbu. Besides, there are accessories like bags out of wrap fabric that can be used for babywearing and beyond.
My first impression: The Kol Kol Baby Carrier is a Full Buckle with soft shoulder straps and a thick padding which makes them feel very comfortable. The waist belt is also very soft, padded, got a pocket (for keys e.g.) and is slightly elliptive. The back panel is very thin and soft. For better comfort the material around babys legs is padded on a few centimeters . The carrier comes with head rest, rings (for pacifiers e.g.) and a “bag tag” to fasten a bag which is a pretty helpful extra I haven’t seen before with other carriers – clever! The back panel isn’t adjustable. I love the colour of the carrier, it reminds me of a sunset 🙂
How to adjust it: The panel cannot be adjusted in height or width, you can only adjust the straps on two positions. However, you can buy an insert to use the Standard size carrier with a newborn and there’s a Toddler size available. When I got the Kol Kol, my baby was around 5 months but the panel was still a little bit too wide. It’s possible though, to gather the panel a bit with some kind of string or cord and adjust it to your baby until it fits better by 6 or 7 months approximately.
Thick but soft padding
How does it wear: The Kol Kol Baby Carrier is quite comfy. I love the thick but soft padding of the shoulder straps, the waist belt is nice, too. I like that the shoulder straps aren’t attached too high on the back panel. Like this, carrying is no problem if you don’t have skinny arms…
How does it fit: My baby didn’t fit perfectly yet but for sure she will soon. The airy material still provides a nice seat and makes it easier to gather the material for a better fit.
Conclusion: Comfortable and nice carrier which is easy to handle and quickly put on. Plus some nice features. The back panel is made of woven fabric and very airy which makes it a perfect carrier for warmer days. However, I do prefer carriers that are adjustable in height and widht but maybe this is something Kol Kol can keep in mind for further releases 🙂
