Storchenwiege carrier turquoise (Halfbuckle)
Brand: Storchenwiege (Germany)
material: 100% cotton
size: one size
weight/age recommendation: from birth till around 15kg;
measurements: panel height: 37cm max, width: 39cm approx.
About the company: Storchenwiege has been founded by Günter Schwartzer, a grandfather, who has been working as a textile engineer and just wanted the best for his grandchild Anna who loved to be carried. What a lovely story! He didn’t find something good enough on the market and started to develop an own baby wrap. This is how Storchenwiege evolved. Meanwhile, his daughters Ulrike and Claudia are in front of the business. The company produces wraps, ring slings, carriers and doll carriers.
Storchenwiege Carrier – light and thin
My first impression: The Storchenwiege Carrier is lightweight, soft and thin. I can imagine it being very comfortable with a baby. The carrier, from straps to panel, is made of wrap fabric and slightly padded on different spots. My only doubt is: can the hip belt who’s rather thin, be as comfy as a thickly padded one?
Two years ago, the carrier got some new features like a narrower, slightly shortened back sections, drawstrings on the neck and a removable band on the shoulder straps that are really useful to guarantee a better sight for your baby.
Comfortable with babies, but how about older children?
How to adjust it: The panel is adjustable in two directions. The width of the seat is adjustable by waist-band. First, I thought I’d need a lot of power to draw but I found out it’s best adjusting the fabric first and then draw the band. There’s a second small band on each side of the panel – use it to adjust the panel height when your baby is in the carrier. There’s also a drawstring to adjust the neck for a perfect fit to your baby.
How does it wear: I think it’s really comfy with my baby but I am still curious if it stays comfy with heavier children. The straps are softly padded as well as the waist belt. The latter is just rectangular, not curved and rather slim. The woven wrap fabric is pleasant on the skin. A chest strap is included for comfortable back carry. You can decide to use it or store it in the bag.
Storchenwiege carrier – perfectly adjustable
How does it fit to the baby: The carrier can be adjusted perfectly to your baby’s size in height, width and neck. The part where babys knees are, has been padded two years ago for better comfort. The head support runs diagonally past babys head and doesn’t cover the face this way.
Conclusion: A really soft kind of carrier with less but softer padding as I am used. However, this for sure provides a nice carrier for tiny babies and during warmer months. You’ll definitely sweat less. Also, the carrier can easily be rolled up and stuffed in the bag. It doesn’t need a lot of space and is a lightweight.
Tested in august 2017 with my 7 months old baby. Thanks to the sponsor for the opportunity!
