Material: Egyptian Cotton (warp), Seacell Silk (weft)
Density:  ? gsm

About the weaver: Tina Cherie and her weaving business are legendary! Since I’ve started to get interested in handwoven babywraps (and that was years ago before everyone started to weave and only a few well-known weavers existed, most of them in the US) Mad Hatter was the HSA brand. One of the first to weave a signature heart design and famous also for its wonderful colour combinations. But then like now, Mad Hatter was out of reach. First, Tina can’t produce wrap after wrap to satisfy all of her admirers. Alas, (semi-)costum slots were and are rare. Second, if someone offered a MH FS in the group (what also rarely happened, more often, MH were offered FT for another MH, ha!) it was (and is) beyond the budget of an average earning babywearer. Mad Hatter – the unfulfilled wrap dream of many of us… but one day, I got the chance to test one. I would be able to touch and wear one – OMG! Even if it only stayed with us for 4 days, I felt blessed and honoured to host Wisteria! You can understand, right?

Nestwärme/Mad Hatter My first impression: When Mad Hatter sends a traveler in your colours, I repeat: in your colours, it’s almost like christmas. Almost. Because, of course, it’s not meant to stay. But still… the box was new to me – very nice! Duchess comes with fringes, yay, and as it’s already really soft, you want to take it to your couch, pull it high up to your neck and have a cup of tea, regardless of the 30 degrees outside (insert big grin). Where was I? Ah, Duchess is beyond gorgeous. Did I mention the colours!? The greatest pink & purple. Interesting weave with hearts and diamonds. And so much softness in duchess. A mid-thick wrap with a nice touch and a slight shimmer. Rather loosely woven for an extra amount of cuddles 😉

How does it wear: Duchess is a bit too short for my favourite carries so I need to improvise. No problem though… thanks to the fringes there’s enough material left to get a knot 😉 The wrap is supportive and doesn’t have too much bounce. It’s nice to play with and the material is really pleasant to wear, not too warm and nice on your shoulders.

Conclusion: Seacell Silk makes a skin flattering and amazingly soft and cushy but still supportive wrap. It’s mid thick and not too heavy (due to it’s size, I guess ;). I love it and would love to own a wrap with this material… The colours are really amazing, it’s hard to capture them, And I love the fringes, too.

This test was done in august 2017 with my 7 months old daughter. Thanks for the opportunity!
