Rowan Bay

“Sorbus” Ring Sling (Prototype)

Brand: Rowan Bay (UK)
Owner: Larissa Cooper
Material: 100% organic cotton
density:  ca. 270 gr/m2
colours: ice blue, mint
released: not yet
Quote: “The inspiration for this pattern stems from my background in ecology and conservation, and love of the natural world. Wanting to create something more organic and irregular in contrast to the straight and geometric patterns of Chrysler, I looked to the natural world for the answer as I often do – and I am sure you will see much more of this as Rowan Bay grows. Sorbus is the scientific name for the genus of the rowan (or mountain-ash) trees and is beautiful at this time of year with the bright red fruits and the burnt-orange leaves.”

About the company: Rowan Bay is a young company with Larissa Cooper, mother of two and wildlife gardener, creating the designs herself and letting weave them in a british textile mill. So far, there are two designs.

My first impression: When the sling arrives here, it’s already fairly soft but not too cuddly. The colours are all natural, as well as the design. Ice blue and mint go well with each other. I especially love the bronze rings with that special sentence engraved…

How does it wear: The fabric glides through the rings easily, it’s supportive with no bounce and no slippery. I loved to play with it, wearing it on the back (as shown in the last pic but do place the rings on your chest if wearing on the back as it might hurt you otherwise, especially when you’re breastfeeding) or as under-the-arm variation.

Conclusion: Easy to wear, mid weight Ring Sling – recommendable for beginners and all ages
