About “Allerlei Windeln”: German shop founded 2016 by Stefanie, mother and studying biology in Leipzig. After her daughter couldn’t bear PUL diapers, she wanted to switch to wool covers but didn’t find a lot why she started sewing them herself out of mulesing free organic merino wool on the inside and fabric from babywraps on the outside. These diapers are where she wanted to put a focus on concerning her shop. While choosing products for her shop she emphasizes on natural materials mainly produced in Europe.
The Puppi diaper is from Poland and available via AW Online-shop.
Look: The AW is an eye-candy of course I love the colours and as a wrap lover, I always like these designs. Puppi comes in neutral colours (natural dyes), contrastive snaps and decorative seam. And: Puppi is so thin, it doesn’t look bulky at all (view my picture)! 🙂
Fit: I like the shape of the AW that is rather long compared to other cloth diapers and you can also see that the flaps come down a little for a good coverage of babys thighs. The height is adjustable and the width can be narrowed also on two spots for tiny babies. The AW is really soft whereas the Puppi is quite thin, the flannel is also soft. Due to the velcro, the Puppi flaps can’t be closed above each other (snaps are also available though). Both diapers fit well on my baby and have space left to grow – Puppi les, in my opinion, than AW.
Stay Dry: I had both diapers in a lanolin bath before first use but had to repeat it with the AW for an optimal result. Anyway, Stefanie told me that some parents didn’t have to repeat it and some did have to. After, the AW was as great as other woolies I’ve been testing. There’s a double layer in the “wet area” but they get still wet when just using one thin insert and not changing it after a while but dry again soon on the line.
The Puppi with its two layers stayed dry on the outside even after a longer use and only felt wet on the inside. I guess it’s the fact that the flannel itself is already very dense and makes it hard for fluids to go through.
Wash & Dry: Wash at 30 degrees and dry flat, use special wool detergents and lanolize when necessary. Woolies don’t need to be washed as long as they don’t get dirty. Just hang them to dry in the air.
My conclusion: While the Puppi makes a small package (for slimmer kids) and might be best to use with inserts during the day, the AW makes a great cover for fitted diapers in the night.
Many thanks to the sponsor: Allerlei Windeln
Tested with my 11 months old daughter who’s still nursing a lot, also during night, which means we’ve got a high amount of pees each day ?
